Landscaping & Lawn Care

Garden makeovers in Laidley.

Beds rebuilt, soil fixed, plants chosen for the Lockyer climate.

Tired gardens do not need more plants, they need better bones: soil that holds water, plants that suit the aspect, and edges that keep it all crisp.

We strip out what is failing, rebuild the beds properly, and plant for how much attention you actually want to give it.

Start with the soil, not the nursery.

Most garden disappointment around Laidley is soil disappointment. Heavy black clay that sets like concrete in August, or thin dusty topsoil that will not hold a drop; either way, plants were doomed before they went in.

We fix the growing medium first: gypsum and organic matter to open clay up, compost to give sandy patches some body, and levels set so beds drain away from the house instead of into it. It is the least glamorous part of the job and it decides everything that happens after.

Plants that suit the place and the owner.

There is no point planting a magazine garden that needs daily fussing if you travel for work, and no point planting three lonely natives if you want colour at the front door. We ask how much time you honestly want to spend, then choose plants that fit: hardy natives and westringias for set-and-forget structure, tougher exotics for show, and the right tree in the right spot so it is an asset in ten years instead of a problem.

Everything we plant has survived a Lockyer summer somewhere first. No experiments at your expense.

Mulch, edges and the finished look.

The difference between "we did some gardening" and "the neighbours are asking who did that" is nearly always edges and mulch. We cut or build a proper edge so lawn stops invading beds, then lay mulch at a real depth, 75mm or so, not a decorative dusting.

The mulch does the daily work after we leave: it keeps roots cool through summer, chokes most weeds before they start, and halves how often things need watering. It also makes the whole yard look intentional, which is the point of a makeover.

How a makeover runs.

Most front-yard makeovers run one to three days. We quote from a walk-around, agree the plant list with you before anything is ordered, and stage the work so the place never looks like a bomb site: strip, soil, plant, mulch, clean.

You get a simple care rundown when we finish, in plain English, covering the first six weeks of watering and what to ignore. And if you want us back seasonally to keep it sharp, that becomes part of your regular round.

Green waste gone. Included, always.

The most common corner cut in this game is leaving the mess. Every job we do includes the haul-away: clippings, prunings, old turf, the lot. Not an add-on. Just what a finished yard means.

Fair questions

Garden makeovers FAQs.

How much does a garden makeover cost?

Small front-bed refreshes start in the hundreds; full front-yard rebuilds with plants and mulch typically land in the low thousands. We quote fixed, from a walk-around, before anything starts.

Can you work with plants I already have?

Yes. Good existing plants get kept, moved or pruned back to health. You should not pay to replace things that just needed looking after.

When is the best time to plant?

Autumn and early spring are kindest here, but with soil prep and mulch done properly we plant most of the year. We will tell you if your list is better waiting a month.

Will it be low maintenance?

If that is what you ask for, we design for it: hardy species, deep mulch, simple lines. Tell us the yard you can honestly keep and we build that one.
