Landscaping & Lawn Care

Retaining & paving in Laidley.

Garden walls, edging, steps and paths that hold their line for years.

Retaining and paving are where landscaping meets construction, and shortcuts show up fast: leaning walls, sunken pavers, steps that wobble.

We build on proper bases with proper drainage, which is the entire secret to hard landscaping that still looks right in ten years.

Walls that stay where you built them.

Every leaning retaining wall in the district failed the same two tests: footings and drainage. Posts need to be deep enough in concrete for the load, and the wall needs ag pipe and gravel behind it so water pressure never builds up. Skip either and the clock starts ticking.

We build sleeper and block walls up to a metre with both done properly, and we put it in writing on the quote so you can compare like for like. Anything over a metre or holding up a structure needs engineering, and we will tell you straight before you spend a dollar.

Paths and patios on real bases.

Pavers do not sink; bases do. The visible part of our paving jobs is the quick part. The work is in the excavation, the compacted road base, the screeded bedding layer and edge restraints that stop everything creeping sideways next summer.

Whether it is a straight path to the clothesline, stepping stones through a garden, or a proper entertaining area, the process is the same, because that process is why our five-year-old jobs still sit flat.

Steps, edges and the details that finish a yard.

Sloped yards around Laidley eat lawns and grow ankle-rollers. A couple of well-built steps and a run of solid edging transforms how a block works: beds stay where they are put, mulch stops migrating onto the lawn, and the mower finally has a clean line to follow.

We build steps to consistent rises so nobody trips, and edge in timber, steel or block depending on the look you are after and the curves involved.

Designed around water, always.

Hard surfaces reroute water, and in a Lockyer storm that is either designed for or discovered later. Every wall, path and patio we build is fallen away from the house, drained at the collection points, and tied into where the water genuinely leaves the property.

It is the invisible part of the trade and the reason to hire someone who has watched what these storms do to shortcuts.

Green waste gone. Included, always.

The most common corner cut in this game is leaving the mess. Every job we do includes the haul-away: clippings, prunings, old turf, the lot. Not an add-on. Just what a finished yard means.

Fair questions

Retaining & paving FAQs.

How high can you build retaining walls?

Up to one metre without engineering in most cases. Higher than that, or supporting a driveway or structure, needs an engineer and often council; we will point you the right way honestly.

Timber sleepers or block?

Timber is warmer looking and friendlier on budget; concrete sleepers and block last longest and never feed termites. We price the options so you choose with real numbers.

Why do pavers sink on some jobs?

Base failure, nearly always: not enough excavation, no compaction, no edge restraint. Ours sit on compacted road base with proper edges, which is why they stay flat.

Do walls really need drainage behind them?

Yes, without exception. Water pressure destroys more walls than load ever does. Ag pipe and drainage gravel are in every wall quote we write.
